| Find creative ways of incorporating photo's into your wedding decor, like having your guests sign a framed picture. |
Most of these tips and ideas are from observation at weddings I have attended or been part of in the past and endless hours watching wedding programmes on TV. I have added my personal touch to them to make them slightly different.
Tips for the couple
Instead of having the normal guest book at the reception, have a photo album scrapbook type instead with photos of the both of you at different stages in your life. These are really easy to make and inexpensive and make for a memorable keepsake. All you need is an A4 size or bigger hardcover book with plain pages (make sure the paper on the pages is the hard type) and copies of your photos and glue. Stick these on the different pages and leave enough space for guests to sign underneath the photos. Depending on the size of the photos you can have one, two or more per page. You can start with your baby pictures and continue to the present day or vice versa or better still have a themed one. The themes can range from holiday photos, birthday photos, Christmas photos or anything else you can think of.
Another great photo guest book idea is to not to have a book but have a picture of the two of you blown up to portrait size or bigger if possible and have the guests sign and write their messages of congratulations on it. You can frame this portrait later and hang it in your living room as a memento of your wedding day.
Don’t just give your parents copies of your wedding photos put them in an album for them alongside a little message for each of them from the two of you written inside. They will really appreciate this gift and proudly show it off to all their friends. I wouldn’t be surprised if some mom’s took theirs along to their “Chamaa” meetings!
By now you have probably gathered that I love photos! Incase you are having an indoor reception why not incorporate a slideshow to music of pictures of the two of you to be shown at the reception. Keeps guests entertained and gives them something to talk about. Find out if whether or not your venue has a projector or hire one out.
Hire out a ‘paparazzi’ (and they are in plenty) for the day and have him/her take photos of the guests as they come into the church/venue. These can later be handed out to guests as favors at the end of the day.
